Water Garden Fountains
Your pond water needs to have movement to keep it lively and clean. One of the easiest methods of providing that movement is by adding a
fountain. A fountain can be attached to a wall or freestanding. By adding a fountain,
it helps to refresh the water flow in your garden. The water garden needs to be recycled every two to five
hours. How do you decide which fountain will accentuate and give your water garden its definition? We suggest looking and listening to different
types of fountains. You can visit your local nursery or lawn and garden center and they will usually have displays of
different types of fountains.
Fountain heads are economical and come in a variety of spray patterns. Take the time to compare the
different sizes and styles because there are many to choose from. The spray patterns will help eliminate some
of the choices that you might use because of its height and width. Fountain heads can be small in a bubbler or
bell form or larger to display a geyser like or multi-tier form.
Wind is a factor to consider when choosing spray fountains. For windier spots, try choosing a short, heavy column. If wind is not a factor, choose the height
and distance that you feel will dramatize your water garden. Your ponds diameter should be at least
twice the spray’s height. To make
selection simple, fountain heads are available in kits that include a pump, the
connecting pipe, and the head.
